azz:
So, this is very nice of them, but I'm not sure quite how open source software is meant to infringe some of them in the first place.
"US6209575 Tamper proof set screw"
"A device for preventing unauthorized access to a rotating shaft. More particularly, an apparatus is provided to prevent unintended and unauthorized operation of a rotating shaft by encasing a vulnerable portion of the shaft in a standard pin type lock which renders the shaft impervious to unauthorized operation. It is intended that the rotating shaft cannot be operated unless it is unlocked and a tool is applied to a portion thereof."
David:
What an evil publicity scam
I predict backlash from the community once more people notice
azz: Well, some people are skeptical already, of course.
David: My account isn't found
But somehow it is still providing azz with certification
azz: I think Advogato's slowly collapsing under its own weight; various bits of advogato.org are broken at the moment.
Which is a pity, since it used to be an interesting and useful site, about three years ago.
The code that runs it is Deeply Scary (it's an Apache module written in C).
David: Indeed
Its got some good ideas in it, but lacks quite a lot of features that people come to expect from diary sites these days.
Which is a shame as it would otherwise make for an excellent central place for FOSS developers to publish.
azz: Quite.
