It's the usual reason given for buying an XBox, but the parts shouldn't cost anything like what they're selling it for.
Remember it's mostly off-the-shelf PC stuff, rather than the custom designs other console manufacturers use.

Ah well. It does the job and was an awful lot cheaper then a Mac Mini or building my own PC for it.
