David:
A reason to have Flash installed
Especially Shada.
azz: I thought Shada was perfectly enjoyable without Flash, actually. ;)
David:
Shada has K9, Romana, Time Lords, and was written by Douglas Adams
The Flash enhances it nicely - especially for the one or two long scenes with nothing but incedental music on the soundtrack
azz: I like that version better than the (incomplete) Tom Baker version, which I've also seen...
David: What?! You've seen Dr Who I haven't?! Something is wrong with the world!
azz:
Muhahaha.
You haven't missed much.
David: I wouldn't be surprised if it was rubbish - Tom was really rather tired of the role at that stage and tended to muck around.
azz: It suffers badly from wobbly-sets syndrome; I can imagine a much more convincing Cambridge college than the sets people could create at that point.
David:
I can imagine having no trouble getting permission to film at Cambridge
I can also imagine the budget being eaten up by one big set early in the series
azz: And I don't think the linking narration (done by a much older Tom Baker) really works.
David: Doctor Who and the Pescatons (an early audio adventure) had a great deal of Tom reading linking material. It doesn't work well there either.
David:
Now generated by SBuilder
... well, what there is is, but there is still work to be done. Still - have rendering!
azz: Seems to work. I like the "related documents" thing.
David: The related documents thing has been around for ages ... and in the articles bit. Its the Blog bit I've just done :D
azz:
Today's Greasemonkey script: replaces <embed> elements with links to their sources. Handy for viewing embedded videos, etc.
(I got fed up with peering at the source whenever somebody embedded a .mov...)
David:
Oh, shiney
Even nicer then My Script
azz: (Oops, wrong entry...)
David: Hmmm ... looks like it will do it for everything embedded. So when I /do/ have the plugin it will break. Perhaps testing the filename in the URI?
azz:
I don't have any plugins installed (nor do I intend to install any), so I'm not overly worried. ;)
It's sort of aimed at people who don't like plugins, I suppose.
David:
Ah. I have Flash (with the FlashBlocker extension)
Ah well - I can always edit it myself :D
azz: I'll accept patches. ;)
David: Goodo!
David: Its my article, published on the W3C site, without a DRAFT tag :)
azz: Welcome to our new-look IRC weblog, complete with an RSS feed.
David: The requested URL /feed was not found on this server.
azz: Ohhh yes it was.
David:
Maybe it was ... but its not now! ;)
Its working now though
And featured on Planet Us-lot!
azz: Blimey, this looks like a real blog now.
azz: Garrison Keillor on why he loves radio, and why it's not in imminent danger of dying.
David: The .mobi TLD goes forward
... because TLDs can be sold at higher prices!
azz: Quite. Easily were spamming people about .eu earlier...
David: Yes, I got the spam. Its legal though since I have an existing business relatinoship with them. (mutter)
azz: I'm just wondering how long it'll be before we can register our own TLDs.
David: An idea designed to muck up everybody's internal DNS! Fantastic! ICAN will LOVE it!
