azz:
"So far, 132 people have voted for the best geek novels (written in English since 1932)"
"HHGTTG", "Neuromancer", "Snow Crash", "Cryptonomicon", "I, Robot": yes, those'd be on my list.
Some of the other choices seem a bit odd -- "The Colour of Magic"? Unless people thought they were actually voting for the Discworld series by choosing that.
"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" is pretty good hard SF, but I suspect most people chose it because of "Blade Runner", which it doesn't really resemble very much. "Shockwave Rider" would be a better cyberpunk nominee.
And how come only one Gibson, and no Pynchon, Perec, Rankin, Lem, McDonald, Wells, Verne, Card...
Actually, the reason people haven't read "Shockwave Rider" is probably because it's out of print -- I had to chase down a second-hand copy.
azz: "The Oulipo Compendium -- the best one-volume introduction to the French literary group the Oulipo and various related works and ideas -- which has been out of print for several years now, is back in print."
The book's now on my wants list, but there are lots of interesting links down the bottom of this article.
