There is absolutely no way in which that's true. (Well, OK, perhaps it's conventional wisdom -- although I've only heard it from Ubuntu and from Mac users -- but it's completely flat-out wrong conventional wisdom.)

Hrm -- either the new mirror.ac.uk have scaled their service back a lot (it's only listing the rsync mirror), or something's broken there...

I suffered a lot to get those pages out for SAV4L. People kept changing their minds.
"Oh, those pages you asked me to look at a week ago? I've just looked at them, change this and this and this and this" ... 3 hours before Go Live hour.
