David: Oh no! I bought a pirate copy of a movie that hasn't had its official DVD release - and it was a fake version made with hand puppets!
azz: It's almost tempting to make a pirate version of a film, where all the characters are pirates.
David: Pirate Hand Puppets!
David:
I'm pondering playing around with JavaScript to produce a game map utility
This is a (somewhat public) place where I'm jotting notes and ideas down as they come to me
SVG? Canvas? Plain 'ole HTML? The latter is probably most cross browser.
Grid based drag n drop
Fog of war?
Image scaling?
How to minimise bandwidth? Stop signal. JSON. Write to static files.
Static files seem quite vulnerable to problems if they are being written to while someone is trying to read them. There are likely to be many reads and writes.
Could just retry if the file is damaged.
UI for adding iconic representations of movable objects on the map.
Display infobox onmouseover of icon. Below map? Tooltip? Latter probably nasty when drag n dropping.
