"We no longer have the original tapes of our 9/11 coverage (for reasons of cock-up, not conspiracy). So if someone has got a recording of our output, I'd love to get hold of it."
Erm. They've lost what?
You would have thought they'd have made an effort to recover it by now if they really have lost the recordings they're required by law to make of their output.
... and which have got to be extremely valuable for quoting in future programmes...
... and which must have been recorded by plenty of organisations on the day.
The conspiracy theory here seems easily explainable by other means, though; WTC 7 was evacuated long before it collapsed because it was known to be unsafe, so the reporter presumably got the wrong end of the stick upon hearing it had been evacuated.
I spent most of that day watching BBC and ITV news in horror, and the coverage really was all over the place -- there was an awful lot of unconfirmed news getting reported as fact.

I should print this out and hand it to the students in classes I supervise.
(Although this year's lot have been very good, actually.)
