"In a sop to the industry, Mr Cameron also used his speech to promise to extend copyright for sound recordings from 50 to 70 years to guarantee performers and producers a "pension" and bring them more in line with composers. This could boost the music industry's profits by £3.3bn over the next 50 years, he suggested."
Just in case you needed more reasons why voting for the Tories would be an utterly stupid idea.
Because the music industry really needs its profits boosted.
Note the emphasis there -- "the music industry", not the people who actually write and play music.
That had not escaped me. Artists tend to get royally fubared by the record labels.
