"An addendum to Bill Poser's post about the fellow who couldn't fly out of JFK because he was wearing a T-shirt with an Arabic slogan... The wearer of the T-shirt was Raed Jarrar, the Iraqi Project Director for the human rights group Global Exchange"
I'm now imagining the White House implementing some kind of ban on Arabic numerals.

"The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson is to remake classic British war film The Dam Busters, he has told film industry trade paper Screen Daily."
For the love of Barnes Wallis, why?

Since the name will sell a lot of tickets at the cinema and it will save a lot of effort in trying to come up with a different story
Also, it will aid in Hollywood's Mission (yes, with a capital M) to rewrite history so that the USA won WWII single handed
I'm not just being cynical am I?
ats: "Rather than leaving the shutter open for the entire exposure duration, we ``flutter'' the camera's shutter open and closed during the chosen exposure time with a binary pseudo-random sequence. The flutter changes the box filter to a broad-band filter that preserves high-frequency spatial details in the blurred image and the corresponding deconvolution becomes a well-posed problem."
This is a very neat application of signal-processing theory to photography.
